Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), said: My sister Umm Hufayd sent me some dabbs as a gift. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the Isha (prayer), and with him (peace and blessings be upon him) was Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him), who was her sister's son. She presented the dabbs to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached out his hand, thinking they were chickens. I said: O Messenger of Allah, do you know what this is? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No." Then he withheld his hand, and I said: This is dabb. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is the food of the Bedouins." Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Is it forbidden? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No." So Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) ate some of it in front of him (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) watched.

Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I freed a slave girl of mine, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came in to me, and I told him (peace and blessings be upon him) about freeing her. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah reward you. Had you given her to your maternal relatives, it would have been greater in reward for you."
