حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِرْقٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا رَوَّادُ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ وَاحِدَةٌ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ، فَلَا يَحْتَسِبُ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ تَقْوَى يَحْجِزُهُ عَنْ مَعَاصِي اللهِ، أَوْ حِلْمٌ يَكُفُّ بِهِ سَفِيهًا، أَوْ خُلُقٌ يَعِيشُ بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever does not have one of three qualities, let him not count on any of his deeds: piety (taqwa) that keeps him back from disobeying Allah, or forbearance by which he restrains a foolish person, or good character with which he lives among people."
وَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ كَانَ فِيهِ وَاحِدَةٌ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ زَوَّجَهُ اللهُ مِنَ الْحُورِ الْعِينِ مَنْ كَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ، يَعْنِي أَمَانَةٌ خَفِيَّةٌ شَهِيَّةٌ، فَأَدَّاهَا مِنْ مَخَافَةِ اللهِ، أَوْ رَجُلٌ عَفَا عَنْ قَاتِلِهِ، أَوْ رَجُلٌ قَرَأَ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ دُبُرَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»
And that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has one of three qualities, Allah will marry him to whomever (he wishes) of the wide-eyed maidens of Paradise (al-Hur al-'In): one who has a hidden trust that he is tempted by and fulfils it out of fear of Allah, or a man who forgives his killer, or a man who recites 'Qul huwa Allahu ahad' (Say: He is Allah, the One) after every prayer."
