It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite these words: "O Allah, You are the First, there is nothing before You, and You are the Last, there is nothing after You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of every moving creature whose forelock is in Your hand. I seek refuge in You from sin, from laziness, from the punishment of the Fire, from the punishment of the grave, from the trial of wealth and from the trial of poverty, and I seek refuge in You from sin and from debt. O Allah, cleanse my heart of sins as You cleanse a white garment of dirt. O Allah, put as much distance between me and my sins as You have put between the East and the West. This is what Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked of his Lord. O Allah, I ask You for the best of requests, the best of supplication, the best of success, the best of deeds, the best of reward, the best of life and the best of death. Keep me firm, make my scales heavy, make my faith true, raise my rank, accept my prayer and forgive my sins, and I ask You for the lofty ranks of Paradise. Amin. O Allah, I ask You for the beginnings of good, its endings, its comprehensive aspects, its first, its last, its outward and its inward, and I ask You for the lofty ranks of Paradise. Amin. O Allah, save me from the Fire, and grant me forgiveness by night and by day and a goodly abode in Paradise. Amin. O Allah, I ask You for deliverance from the Fire in safety, and admit me into Paradise in security. O Allah, I ask You to bless me in my self, in my hearing, in my sight, in my soul, in my character, in my physical make-up, in my family, in my life and in my death. O Allah, accept my good deeds, and I ask You for the lofty ranks of Paradise. Amin."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that on the day Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) passed away, she said: "Today the person who was most beloved in this world to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has died." Then she said: "I seek Allah's forgiveness (for these words), except for her father."
