حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ، قَالَا: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: وَضَعَتْ سُبَيْعَةُ بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ زَوْجِهَا، فَخَطَبَهَا رَجُلَانِ، فَقَالُوا: لَمْ تَحِلَّ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «قَدْ أَحْلَلْتِ فَتَزَوَّجِي مَنْ شِئْتِ»
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her); she said that Sayyidah Subay'ah (may Allah be pleased with her) gave birth after the death of her husband, and two men proposed marriage to her. People said: She has not yet become lawful (for marriage). So I mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have become lawful, so marry whomever you wish."
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: " وَلَدَتْ سُبَيْعَةُ الْأَسْلَمِيَّةُ بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ زَوْجِهَا بِنِصْفِ شَهْرٍ، فَخَطَبَهَا رَجُلَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا شَابٌّ، وَالْآخَرُ كَهْلٌ، فَحَطَّتْ إِلَى الشَّابِّ، فَقَالَ: الْكَهْلُ لَمْ تَحِلَّ، وَكَانَ أَهْلُهَا غُيَّبًا، وَرَجَا إِذَا جَاءَ أَهْلُهَا أَنْ يُؤْثِرُوهُ بِهَا، فَجَاءَتْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «قَدْ حَلَلْتِ فَانْكِحِي مَنْ شِئْتِ»
Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) relates that Sayyidah Subay'ah al-Aslamiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) gave birth half a month after the death of her husband. Two men proposed marriage to her, one of them young and the other middle-aged, and she inclined towards the young man. At this the middle-aged man said: She has not yet become lawful. Her family were away, and he hoped that when her family came they would give him preference. So she came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have become lawful, so marry whomever you wish."
