Ata' and al-Dahhak narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "Those are declared innocent of what they say": what is meant is the declaration of innocence from Allah against the lie of Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul. "For them is forgiveness" [Surah al-Ma'idah: 9]: what is meant is protection in this world and forgiveness in the Hereafter. "And a noble provision" [Surah al-Nur: 26]: what is meant is the provision of Paradise and a great reward.

Sa'id bin Jubayr said: "Those" [Surah al-Nur: 26], that is, the good men and women, "are declared innocent of what they say", that is, of what these slanderers who slandered Sayyidah Aishah say; they are free of the evil speech. Then he said: "For them is forgiveness" [Surah al-Ma'idah: 9], that is, of their sins, "and a noble provision" [Surah al-Nur: 26], that is, a good (provision) in Paradise. When the vindication of Sayyidah Aishah was revealed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drew her even closer to himself, and she is among his wives (peace and blessings be upon him) in Paradise as well.
