Ibn Muhayriz al-Shami (may Allah have mercy on him) said that he heard Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri and Sayyiduna Abu Sirmah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with them both) say: We captured women prisoners in the expedition of Banu al-Mustaliq, and that was the expedition in which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) received Juwayriyah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her). Some of us wanted to take them as wives, and some wanted to enjoy them and then sell them. So we discussed 'azl (withdrawal) among ourselves and mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no harm upon you if you do not practise 'azl, for Allah has already decreed whatever He is going to create until the Day of Resurrection."
