Ziyad bin Abi Hind al-Dari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, Abu Hind al-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him), that they came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), six men: Tamim bin Aws bin Kharijah bin Sawdan bin Jadhimah bin Dira' bin Adi bin al-Dar; his brother Nu'aym bin Aws; Yazid bin Qays; Abu Hind bin Abdullah; his brother al-Tayyib bin Abdullah - the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) named him Abd al-Rahman - and Fakih bin al-Nu'man. They all accepted Islam and asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) to grant them some land from the land of Syria (al-Sham). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ask for whatever you like." So they got up from him and consulted one another about which place to ask for. Tamim said: My view is that we ask for Bayt al-Maqdis and its surrounding region. Abu Hind said: Have you seen the king of the non-Arabs today? Is he not in Bayt al-Maqdis? Tamim said: Yes.
