حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ، ح قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , وَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ , عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ أَنَّ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ امْرَأَةً أَخْطُبُهَا فَقَالَ: «اذْهَبْ فَانْظُرْ إِلَيْهَا , فَإِنَّهُ أَحْرَى أَنْ يُؤْدَمَ بَيْنَكُمَا» فَأَتَيْتُ امْرَأَةً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَخَطَبْتُهَا إِلَى أَبَوَيْهَا وَأَخْبَرْتُهُمَا بِقَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَكَأَنَّهُمَا كَرِهَِا ذَلِكَ , فَسَمِعَتْ ذَلِكَ الْمَرْأَةُ وَهِي فِيَ خِدْرِهَا فَقَالَتْ: إِنْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَكَ أَنْ تَنْظُرَ فَانْظُرْ , وَإِلَّا فَإِنِّي أَنْشُدُكَ , كَأَنَّهَا أَعْظَمَتْ ذَلِكَ , قَالَ: فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهَا فَتَزَوَّجْتُهَا "

Bakr bin Abdullah al-Muzani (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned to him (peace and blessings be upon him) a woman to whom I wanted to propose marriage. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go and look at her, for that is more likely to keep love between the two of you." So I went to a woman of the Ansar and proposed to her through her parents, and I told them what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had said, and it was as if they disliked it. The woman heard this from behind her curtain and said: "If the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has ordered you to look, then look; otherwise, I adjure you (not to)" - as if she regarded it as a very serious matter. He said: So I looked at her and married her. And the narrator also mentioned her harmony (and compatibility with her husband).
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي، ثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ، ثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ، قَالَ: خَطَبَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ امْرَأَةً فَذَكَرَ أَمْرَهَا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «رَأَيْتَهَا؟» قَالَ: لَا , قَالَ: «إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَنْظُرَ إِلَيْهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ تَزَوَّجَهَا فَافْعَلْ , فَإِنَّهُ أَحْرَى أَنْ يُؤْدِمَ الْمَوَدَّةَ بَيْنَكُمَا»
Bakr bin Abdullah al-Muzani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) proposed marriage to a woman and put her matter before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Have you seen her?" He said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you are able to look at her before marrying her, then do so, for that is more likely to keep love between the two of you."
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، ثَنَا السَّكَنُ الْأَصَمُّ، ثَنَا عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، قَالَ: خَطَبْتُ جَارِيَةً فَلَمَّا تَقَارَبَ أَمْرُهَا أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ
Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I proposed marriage to a girl, and when her matter was close to being settled, I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the narrator mentioned a hadith similar to the previous one.
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي، ثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ، ثَنَا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، قَالَ: خَطَبْتُ امْرَأَةً فَذَكَرْتُهَا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ
Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I proposed marriage to a woman and mentioned her to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the narrator mentioned a hadith similar to the previous one.
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، ثَنَا عَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، قَالَ: خَطَبْتُ جَارِيَةً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «رَأَيْتَهَا؟» قُلْتُ: لَا , قَالَ: «فَانْظُرْ إِلَيْهَا فَإِنَّهُ أَحْرَى أَنْ يُؤْدَمَ بَيْنَكُمَا»
Bakr bin Abdullah al-Muzani (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I proposed marriage to a girl of the Ansar and put this before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Have you seen her?" I said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Look at her, for that is more likely to keep love between the two of you."
