Ubayd bin Nudaylah al-Khuza'i (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: A co-wife struck her co-wife with a tent pole and killed her. Judgment was given that her blood money was due from the agnatic relatives ('asabah) of the killer, and for what was in her womb, a slave (ghurrah). At this a Bedouin said: "Do you make me pay compensation for one who neither ate nor drank, neither cried out nor wailed? Such a thing should simply go unrequited." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is this rhymed speech like the rhymed speech of the Bedouins?" Abu Hudhayfah added in his narration: "And for what was in her womb, judgment was given of a slave (ghurrah)."

Ubayd bin Nudaylah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: A man from the tribe of Hudhayl had two wives. One of them struck the other with a stone or a tent pole, causing her to miscarry. The matter was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave judgment in it of a slave (ghurrah). The woman's heirs said: "How can we pay compensation for one who neither cried out nor wailed, neither drank nor ate? Such a thing should simply go unrequited." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is this rhymed speech like the rhymed speech of the Bedouins?" And he (peace and blessings be upon him) made the compensation for the child binding upon the heirs of the woman (who struck).
