Muhammad bin Ishaq said: Among those of the Ansar who took part in Badr, from Banu al-Khazraj, then from Banu al-Najjar, was Abu Muhammad al-Ansari, whose name was Mas'ud bin Aws bin Asram bin Zayd bin Tha'labah bin Ghanm bin Malik bin al-Najjar.

A man from among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought a Berber slave girl for two hundred dinars, then sent her to Sayyiduna Abu Muhammad al-Badri (may Allah be pleased with him) - one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a Companion who fought at Badr - and gifted that Berber slave girl to him. When she came to him, he said: "This one is from the Magians whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade, and from those who associate partners."
The narrator said: I narrated this hadith to a man, and he told me that Yahya bin Sa'id had told him that an uncle of his died in the Maghrib, and he was a Companion who fought at Badr.
