Sayyidah Duba'ah bint al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with her) - who was married to Sayyiduna al-Miqdad - said: People used to go to relieve themselves only every two or three days, and they would pass droppings like camels do. One day Sayyiduna al-Miqdad went out to relieve himself until he reached al-Khabkhabah - which is in Baqi' al-Gharqad - and he entered a ruin to relieve himself. While he was sitting, a rat brought out a dinar from a hole, and it kept bringing out one dinar after another until there were seventeen dinars. (Al-Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) said:) I took them and came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him (peace and blessings be upon him) about them, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did your hand reach into the hole?" I said: "No, by the One who sent you with the truth." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no charity (sadaqah) due from you on it; may Allah bless it for you." Duba'ah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "The last of it had not yet been used up before I saw silver bracelets in al-Miqdad's house."

Sayyidah Duba'ah bint al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Sayyiduna al-Miqdad went to relieve himself and entered a ruin, and he saw a rat bringing out one dinar at a time from a hole, until it had brought out seventeen dinars. Then it brought out the edge of a green piece of cloth. Al-Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I got up and pulled the edge of the cloth and found a dinar in it, so they became eighteen dinars. Al-Miqdad took them and asked permission to see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When he entered upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he told him the whole story and said: "O Messenger of Allah, take its zakah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did you extend your hand into the hole?" Al-Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "No, by the One who sent you with the truth." Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to al-Miqdad: "May Allah bless it for you."

Sayyidah Duba'ah bint al-Zubayr bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with her) - who was married to Sayyiduna al-Miqdad - narrates from her husband that he said: I said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "There is something I heard from you about which I have come to have doubt." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you has a doubt about a matter, let him ask me about it." I said: "Your saying about your wives: 'I hope for them, after me, (good) from the siddiqin (the truthful ones).'" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whom do you consider the siddiqin?" We said: "Our children who die young." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, the siddiqin are those who give in charity," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said it three times.
