حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَمَدَحَ عُثْمَانَ، فَقَامَ الْمِقْدَادُ يَحْثُو فِي وَجْهِهِ التُّرَابَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُثْمَانُ: مَا لَكَ؟ قَالَ: أَمَّا أَنَا فَلَا أَدَعُ شَيْئًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «احْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: A man came and praised Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and began throwing dust in his face. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: What is the matter with you? He said: I cannot leave anything that I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Throw dust in the faces of the flatterers."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ، ثنا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ، ثنا بَكْرُ بْنُ خُنَيْسٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَادِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «احْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِ الْمَدَّاحِينَ التُّرَابَ»
Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Throw dust in the faces of the flatterers."
