حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ الْهُنَائِيِّ، أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ لِنَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الشُّرْبِ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ؟، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ
قَالَ: فَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ جُلُودِ النُّمُورِ أَنْ يُرْكَبَ عَلَيْهَا؟، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ، نَعَمْ
قَالَ: وَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ نَهَى عَنِ الْمُتْعَةِ، يَعْنِي مُتْعَةَ الْحَجِّ؟، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ لَا، قَالَ: بَلَى

Abu Shaykh al-Huna'i (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to a group of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking from vessels of gold and silver? They said: By Allah, yes.
He said: Do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade riding on leopard skins? They said: By Allah, yes.
He said: And do you know that he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade mut'ah, meaning the mut'ah of Hajj? They said: By Allah, no. He said: Indeed he did; he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that as well.

Hadith 16874

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ثنا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ الْهُنَائِيِّ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ فِي مَلَأٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، عِنْدَ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ: نَشَدْتُكُمْ بِاللهِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنْ لِبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ؟، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ، قَالَ: وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ، قَالَ: نَشَدْتُكُمْ بِاللهِ، هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الشَّرَابِ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ؟، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ، قَالَ: وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ

Abu Shaykh al-Huna'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I was with Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) in a gathering of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I adjure you by Allah, do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing silk? They said: By Allah, yes. He said: And I too bear witness. Then he said: I adjure you by Allah, do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking from vessels of gold and silver? They said: By Allah, yes. He said: And I too bear witness.

Hadith 16875

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ الْهُنَائِيُّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، وَعِنْدَهُ رَهْطٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللهِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنْ لِبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ؟، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ "

Abu Shaykh al-Huna'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I heard Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), while a group of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were with him, say: I adjure you by Allah, do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing silk? They said: By Allah, yes.

Hadith 16876

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا يَحْيَى، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ، ثنا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ الْهُنَائِيِّ، أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ يَوْمًا وَعِنْدَهُ أَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ لِبْسِ الذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مُقَطَّعًا؟، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ، قَالَ: أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الرُّكُوبِ عَلَى جُلُودِ النِّمَارِ؟، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ، قَالَ: أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ جَمْعٍ بَيْنَ الْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ؟، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ لَا .

Abu Shaykh al-Huna'i (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that one day, while the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) were with him, Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing gold except when it is in small pieces? They said: By Allah, yes. He said: Do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade riding on leopard skins? They said: By Allah, yes. He said: Do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade combining Hajj and Umrah? They said: By Allah, no.

Hadith 16877

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاهَوَيْهِ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ، ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ الْعَرْزَمِيِّ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ الْهُنَائِيِّ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ

A similar hadith is also narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Hadith 16878

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ثنا بَيْهَسُ بْنُ فَهْدَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ الْهُنَائِيِّ قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَعِنْدَهُ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ، وَالْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ: «أَنْشُدُكُمُ اللهَ أَلَسْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ» نَهَى عَنْ لِبْسِ الذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مُقَطَّعًا؟ "، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «أَلَسْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الشُّرْبِ فِي آنِيَةِ الْفِضَّةِ؟» ، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «أَلَسْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يُجْمَعَ بَيْنَ الْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ» ، قَالُوا: اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ "

Abu Shaykh al-Huna'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I was with Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), and some people from the Muhajirun and the Ansar were with him. Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I adjure you by Allah, do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing gold except when it is in small pieces?" They said: By Allah, yes. He said: "Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking from a silver vessel?" They said: By Allah, yes. He said: "Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade combining Hajj and Umrah?" They said: By Allah, yes.
