It is narrated from Sayyiduna Labibah (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "How then will it be when We bring from every nation a witness, and bring you as a witness over all these?" [Surah al-Nisa': 41], the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would weep and say: "O my Lord! I bear witness over those among whom I have lived, so what of those whom I have not even seen?"

Sayyiduna Labibah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: On the day of Khaybar a roasted goat was given as a gift to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Bishr bin al-Bara' bin Ma'rur (may Allah be pleased with him) ate from it, and both of them became severely ill. Then Bishr (bin al-Bara') passed away, and when he died, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for the Jewish woman who had given that (goat) as a gift, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What did you feed us, woe to you?" She said: I fed you poison. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What drove you to do this?" She said: I had heard you mention (prophethood), so I thought that if you really were a prophet, this poison would not harm you, and if you were not a prophet, I would rid the people of you. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an order concerning her, and she was crucified.
