حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا الْمُعَلَّى بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْقَعْقَاعِيُّ، ثنا مُبَشِّرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ اللَّجْلَاجِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ اللَّجْلَاجِ، قَالَ: «مَا مَلَأْتُ بَطْنِي طَعَامًا مُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، آكُلُ حَسْبِي وَأَشْرَبُ حَسْبِي» ، قَالَ الْعَلَاءُ: «يَعْنِي قُوَّتِي»
Sayyiduna al-Lajlaj (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Since I accepted Islam with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I have never filled my stomach with food; I only eat and drink what suffices me. Al-Ala' (the narrator) said: That is, according to my strength.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا حَرَمِيُّ بْنُ حَفْصٍ الْعَتَكِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُلَاثَةَ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ اللَّجْلَاجِ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ اللَّجْلَاجَ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ قَاعِدًا فِي السُّوقِ فَمَرَّتِ امْرَأَةٌ تَحْمِلُ صَبِيًّا، فَثَارَ النَّاسُ وَثُرْتُ، فَسِرْنَا فَانْتَهَيْنَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: «مَنْ أَبُو هَذَا مَعَكِ؟» ، فَسَكَتَتْ، فَقَالَ شَابٌّ حَذَاءَهَا: أَنَا أَبُوهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ: «مَنْ أَبُو هَذَا مَعَكِ؟» ، فَسَكَتَتْ، فَقَالَ الْفَتَى: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهَا حَدِيثَةُ السِّنِّ، حَدِيثَةُ عَهْدٍ بِخُرْبَةٍ، وَلَيْسَتْ تُكَلِّمُكَ، وَأَنَا أَبُوهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَنَظَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ كَأَنَّهُ يَسْأَلُهُمْ عَنْهُ، فَقَالُوا: مَا نَعْلَمُ إِلَّا خَيْرًا أَوْ نَحْوَ ذَا، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَحْصَنْتَ؟» ، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، فَأَمَرَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُرْجَمَ، فَخَرَجْنَا بِهِ فَحَفَرْنَا لَهُ حَتَّى أَمْكَنَّا، ثُمَّ رَمَيْنَاهُ بِالْحِجَارَةِ حَتَّى هَدَأَ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفْنَا إِلَى مَجَالِسِنَا، فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ جَاءَ شَيْخٌ يَسْأَلُ عَنِ الْمَرْجُومِ، فَقُمْنَا إِلَيْهِ فَأَخَذْنَا بِتَلَابِيبِهِ فَانْطَلَقْنَا بِهِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا جَاءَ يَسْأَلُ عَنِ الْخَبِيثِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَهْ، هُوَ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ» ، فَانْصَرَفْنَا مَعَ الشَّيْخِ فَإِذَا هُوَ أَبُوهُ، فَانْتَهَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ فَأَعَنَّاهُ عَلَى غُسْلِهِ وَتَكْفِينِهِ وَدَفْنِهِ، قَالَ: وَمَا أَدْرِي قَالَ الصَّلَاةَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْ لَا
Al-Lajlaj (may Allah be pleased with him) related that he was sitting in the market when a woman passed by carrying a child. The people rose up and I rose too, and we went until we reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "Who is the father of this child with you?" She remained silent. A young man standing beside her said: I am his father, O Messenger of Allah. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to her and said: "Who is the father of this child with you?" She again remained silent, and that young man said: O Messenger of Allah! She is young in age and still naive; she will not speak to you, and I am his father, O Messenger of Allah. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at some of his Companions as if asking them about him, and they said: We know nothing of him but good — or they said something like that. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Are you married?" He said: Yes. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be stoned. We took him out and dug a pit for him until we had set him in it, then we pelted him with stones until he became still. Then we returned to our gatherings. Meanwhile an old man came asking about the one who had been stoned. We got up, seized him by his collar and took him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and we said: O Messenger of Allah! This man has come asking about that foul person. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Stop! He is purer in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk." So we went along with the old man and found out that he was the father of the deceased. We reached him and helped him with the washing, shrouding and burial. The narrator said: I do not remember whether he also mentioned praying the funeral prayer over him or not.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُعَلَّى الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ثنا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الشُّعَيْثِيُّ، عَنْ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْجُهَنِيِّ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ اللَّجْلَاجِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: كُنَّا غِلْمَانًا نَعْمَلُ فِي السُّوقِ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرَجُلٍ فَرُجِمَ، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَسْأَلُنَا عَنْهُ، فَأَتَيْنَا بِهِ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ هَذَا جَاءَ يَسْأَلُنَا عَنْ هَذَا الْخَبِيثِ الَّذِي رُجِمَ الْيَوْمَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا تَقُولُوا: خَبِيثٌ، فَوَاللهِ لَهُوَ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنَ الْمِسْكِ "
Sayyiduna al-Lajlaj (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were boys working in the market when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an order concerning a man, and he was stoned. Then a man came asking us about him, so we brought him to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! This man has come asking us about this foul person who was stoned today. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not call him foul; by Allah, he is purer in the sight of Allah than musk."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو مُسْهِرٍ، ثنا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ النَّصْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْجُهَنِيِّ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ اللَّجْلَاجِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: كُنَّا غِلْمَانًا نَعْدُو إِلَى السُّوقِ فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرَجُلٍ أَقَرَّ بِالزِّنَا فَرُجِمَ، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَسْأَلُنَا عَنْ مَكَانِ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلِ الَّذِي رُجِمَ، فَأَتَيْنَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ هَذَا يَسْأَلُنَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ الْخَبِيثِ، فَقَالَ: " لَا تَقُولُوا: خَبِيثٌ، فَوَاللهِ لَهُوَ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ الْمِسْكِ "
Sayyiduna al-Lajlaj (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were boys who used to run to and fro to the market, when a man who had confessed to adultery (zina) was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he was stoned. Then a man came asking us about the place of that man who had been stoned. We came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! This man is asking us about that foul person. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not call him foul; by Allah, he is purer in the sight of Allah than musk."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ الْحَلَبِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ دُحَيْمٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ، قَالُوا: ثنا مُبَشِّرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ اللَّجْلَاجِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ لِي أَبِي: " يَا بُنَيَّ إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَأَلْحِدْنِي، فَإِذَا وَضَعْتَنِي فِي لَحْدِي فَقُلْ: بِسْمِ اللهِ وَعَلَى مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ، ثُمَّ سِنَّ عَلَيَّ الثَّرَى سِنًّا، ثُمَّ اقْرَأْ عِنْدَ رَأْسِي بِفَاتِحَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ وَخَاتِمَتِهَا، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ "
Sayyiduna al-Lajlaj (may Allah be pleased with him) said to his son: "My son! When I die, bury me in a niche grave (lahd), and when you place me in my lahd, say: In the name of Allah and upon the religion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then pour the earth over me evenly, then recite at my head the opening of Surah al-Baqarah and its closing part, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying this."
