حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، ثنا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَة، قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ فِتْنَةً فَقَرَّبَهَا، فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ مُقَنَّعٌ، فَقَالَ: «هَذَا يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى الْحَقِّ» ، فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَأَخَذْتُ بِضَبْعَيْهِ فَأَقْبَلْتُ بِوَجْهِهِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا؟، قَالَ: «نَعَمْ» ، فَإِذَا هُوَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ.
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he mentioned a tribulation and said it was near. Just then a man with his face covered passed by, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This man will be upon the truth on that day." I got up and went to him, took hold of his upper arms and turned his face towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and said: O Messenger of Allah, is it this man? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." And it was Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him).
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَة، قَالَ: ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِتْنَةً فَقَرَّبَهَا، فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned a tribulation and said it was near. Then the narrator narrated a hadith similar to it.
