حَدَّثَنَا إِدْرِيسُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْعَطَّارُ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَة، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَآهُ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ وَلَهُ وَفْرَةٌ وَبِأَصْلِ كُلِّ شَعْرَةٍ وَبِأَعْلَاهُ قَمْلَةٌ أَوْ صَؤَابٌ، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ هَذَا لَأَذًى، أَتَجِدُ نُسُكًا؟» ، قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: «فَانْطَلِقْ أَوْجِزْهُ، فَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ أَطْعِمْ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينٍ، بَيْنَ كُلِّ مِسْكِينَيْنِ صَاعٌ مِنْ تَمْرٍ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him while he was in ihram; he had thick hair, and at the root and the tip of every hair there were lice or their eggs. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is certainly harmful. Do you have a sacrifice available?" He said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go and shorten it (that is, cut the hair). If you wish, fast three days, or feed six poor people, one sa' of dates between every two poor people."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْعَطَّارُ، وَزَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ، قَالُوا: ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ قَالَا: ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَة، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُ: «إِنْ شِئْتَ فَانْسُكْ نَسِيكَةً، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَطْعِمْ ثَلَاثَةَ آصُعٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ سِتَّ مَسَاكِينٍ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "If you wish, offer a sacrifice; if you wish, fast three days; and if you wish, feed three sa' of dates to six poor people."
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ الْعَمِّيُّ، ثنا وُهَيْبٌ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ، قَالَ: مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَعَلَيَّ وَفْرَةٌ مِنْ أَصْلِ كُلِّ شَعْرَةٍ إِلَى فَرْعِهَا قَمْلٌ وَصِئْبَانٌ، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ هَذَا لَأَذًى» ، قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: «فَاحْلِقْ وَاذْبَحْ أَوْ صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ تَصَدَّقْ بِثَلَاثَةِ آصُعٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ عَلَى سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينٍ»
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me in the year of al-Hudaybiyah while I had thick hair, and from the root of every hair to its tip there were lice and their eggs. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is harmful." I said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then shave your head and offer a sacrifice, or fast three days, or give three sa' of dates in charity to six poor people."
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ، قَالَ: مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ وُهَيْبٍ، وَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ وُهَيْبٌ وَلَا بِشْرٌ بَيْنَ الشَّعْبِيِّ وَكَعْبِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me in the year of al-Hudaybiyah. Then the narrator related the rest similar to the hadith of Wuhayb.
Imam al-Tabarani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Neither Wuhayb nor Bishr mentioned Ibn Abi Layla as an intermediary in the chain between al-Sha'bi and Ka'b bin Ujrah.

حَدَّثَنَا. يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ، قَالَ: مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me at al-Hudaybiyah. Then the narrator related the rest of a similar hadith.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الْمُسْتَمْلِي، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أنا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَة، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ، وَزَادَ مَعْمَرٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: «بَيْنَ كُلِّ مِسْكِينَيْنِ صَاعٌ»
A similar hadith is also narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Imam al-Tabarani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ma'mar added this in his narration: "One sa' between every two poor people."
