Sayyiduna Fadalah bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the day of Khaybar a necklace containing beads and gold was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); it was from the spoils of war and was being sold. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that the gold in the necklace be separated, so it alone was removed. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: "Gold for gold, weight for weight."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadalah bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that they were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a military campaign when they obtained a necklace containing gold and gems, and they sold it for dinars. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not sell like this," and he forbade them from it, and said: "The gems separately and the gold separately."
