حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ بْنِ كُلْثُومِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ نَاجِيَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْخُزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ كُلْثُومٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ: بَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ يُصَدِّقُ أَمْوَالَنَا فَسَارَ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ قَرِيبًا مِنَّا، وَذَلِكَ بَعْدَ وَقْعَةِ الْمُرَيْسِيعِ رَجَعَ فَرَكِبْنَا فِي أَثَرِهِ، فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَتَيْتُ قَوْمًا فِي جَاهِلِيَّتِهِمْ أَخَذُوا اللِّبَاسَ وَمَنَعُوا الصَّدَقَةَ، فَلَمْ يُغَيِّرْ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ: {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ جَاءَكُمْ فَاسِقٌ} [الحجرات: ٦] الْآيَةُ، وَأَتَى الْمُصْطَلِقُونَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَثَرَ الْوَلِيدِ بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنْ صَدَقَاتِهِمْ يَسُوقُونَها، وَنَفَقَاتٍ يَحْمِلُونَهَا فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لَهُ، وَأَنَّهُمْ خَرَجُوا يَطْلُبُونَ الْوَلِيدَ بِصَدَقَاتِهِمْ فَلَمْ يَجِدُوهُ، فَدُفِعُوا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا كَانَ مَعَهُمْ وَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، بَلَغَنَا مَخْرَجُ رَسُولِكَ فَسُرِرْنَا بِذَلِكَ وَقُلْنَا: نَتَلَقَّاهُ، فَبَلَغَنَا رَجْعَتُهُ، فَخِفْنَا أَنْ يَكُونَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ سَخَطِهِ عَلَيْنَا وَعَرَضُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَشْتَرُوا مِنْهُ مَا بَقِيَ فَقَبِلَ مِنْهُمُ الْفَرَائِضَ وَقَالَ: «ارْجِعُوا بِنَفَقَاتِكُمْ لَا نَبِيعُ شَيْئًا مِنَ الصَّدَقَاتِ حَتَّى نَقْبِضَهُ» ، فَرَجَعُوا إِلَى أَهْلِيهِمْ وَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهِمْ مَنْ يَقْبِضُ بَقِيَّةَ صَدَقَاتِهِمْ
Sayyiduna Alqamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent al-Walid bin Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ayt to us to collect the zakah on our wealth. He travelled until, when he was near us (and this was after the battle of al-Muraysi'), he turned back, and we rode after him. He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I went to a people who have (reverted) to their Jahiliyyah; they have put on (war) attire and withheld the zakah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took no action on this until this verse was revealed: "O you who believe, if a sinful person comes to you (with news)" [al-Hujurat: 6], the whole verse. And Banu al-Mustaliq came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) right behind al-Walid, driving part of their charity (animals) and carrying some funds, and they related the matter to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and that they had set out with their charity looking for al-Walid but had not found him. Then they handed over to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) what they had with them and said: O Messenger of Allah, news reached us of your messenger setting out, and we were pleased with that and said: We will go forward to meet him. Then news of his return reached us, and we feared that it might be due to his displeasure with us. They offered the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to buy back from him the remainder (of the charity), but he (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted from them only the obligatory amount and said: "Take your funds back; we do not sell anything of the charity until we have taken possession of it." So they returned to their families, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) sent someone to them to collect the rest of their charity.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْوَزِيرُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْجَوَّازُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ النَّضْرِ بْنِ كُلْثُومِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ الْمُصْطَلَقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي جَدِّي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِي وَفْدِ بَنِي الْمُصْطَلِقِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَمْرِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «انْصَرِفُوا غَيْرَ مَحْبُوسِينَ وَلَا مَحْضُورِينَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Alqamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the delegation of Banu al-Mustaliq concerning the matter of al-Walid bin Uqbah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go back; you will neither be detained nor restricted."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْخَلَّالُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ بْنِ كُلْثُومِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ نَاجِيَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْخُزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ كُلْثُومٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُمْ عَامَ الْمُرَيْسِيعِ حِينَ أَسْلَمُوا: «مِنْ تَمَامِ إِسْلَامِكُمْ أَنْ تُؤَدُّوا زَكَاةَ أَمْوَالِكُمْ»
The narrator relates from his grandfather Kulthum, from his father, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them in the year of the expedition of al-Muraysi', when they accepted Islam: "Part of the completion of your Islam is that you pay the zakah on your wealth."
