حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا رَأَيْتَ اللهَ يُعْطِي الْعَبْدَ مَا يُحِبُّ وَهُوَ مُقِيمٌ عَلَى مَعَاصِيهِ، فَإِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ لَهُ مِنْهُ اسْتِدْرَاجٌ» ، ثُمَّ نَزَعَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ: {فَلَمَّا نَسُوا مَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرِحُوا بِمَا أُوتُوا أَخَذْنَاهُمْ بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ مُبْلِسُونَ، فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ} [الأنعام: ٤٥]
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you see Allah giving a servant what he loves while he persists in his sins, then that is istidraj (being drawn on gradually to his ruin) for him." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every thing, until, when they rejoiced in what they were given, We seized them suddenly, and then they were in despair. So the people who did wrong were cut off at the root, and all praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds" [Al-An'am: 45].

Likewise a similar hadith is also narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him).
