حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، عَنْ بَحِيرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ، عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا يُجَرُّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مِنْ يَوْمِ وُلِدَ إِلَى أَنْ يَمُوتَ هَرَمًا فِي مَرْضَاةِ اللهِ لَحَقَّرَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»
Sayyiduna Utbah bin Abd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a man were dragged on his face from the day he was born until he died of old age, seeking the pleasure of Allah, he would still regard it (that deed of his) as insignificant on the Day of Resurrection."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ، ثَنَا أَبِي، ثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، عَنْ بَحِيرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ، عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، الْعَنْ أَهْلَ الْيَمَنِ فَإِنَّهُمْ شَدِيدٌ بَأْسُهُمْ، كَثِيرٌ عَدَدُهُمْ، حَصِينَةٌ حُصُونُهُمْ، قَالَ: «لَا» ، وَلَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْأَعْجَمَيْنِ فَارِسَ وَالرُّومَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِذَا مَرَّ بِكُمْ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ يَسُوقُونَ نِسَاءَهُمْ ويَحْمِلونَ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ عَلَى عَوَاتِقِهِمْ، فَإِنَّهُمْ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُمْ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Utbah bin Abd (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: O Messenger of Allah, curse the people of Yemen, for they are very mighty, great in number, and possessors of strong fortresses. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the two non-Arab nations, Persia and Rome. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the people of Yemen pass by you, driving their women along and carrying their sons on their shoulders, then know that they are from me and I am from them."
