حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَحَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَوْضِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، ثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَوْضِيُّ قَالَا: ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحِلِّ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Protect yourselves from the Fire, even if only with a piece of a date, and if you cannot find that, then with a good word."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ النهرتيري، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي قَاضِي نهر تيري، ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحِلِّ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ، وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Protect yourselves from the Fire, even if only with a piece of a date."
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثَنَا أبو بَكْرُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ قَالَا: ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَا: ثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْمُسَيَّرُ الطَّائِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ح، وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ، ثَنَا مُجَاهِدُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَا: ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، عَنْ مُحِلِّ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ إِلَى مَجْلِسِهِمْ فَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَتَقَدَّمَ إمَامُهُمْ فَأَطَالَ الصَّلَاةَ وَالْجُلُوسَ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ: مَنْ أَمَّنَا مِنْكُمْ فَلْيُتِمَّ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ فَإِنَّ خَلْفَهُ الصَّغِيرَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَالْمَرِيضَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ، فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ تَقَدَّمَ عَدِيٌّ وَأَتَمَّ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ وَتَجَوَّزَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ: «هَكَذَا كُنَّا نُصَلِّي خَلْفَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ» وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ ابْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) that he went out to their gathering. The iqamah for the prayer was called, and their imam went forward and prolonged the prayer and the sitting (in tashahhud). When he finished, Sayyiduna Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Whoever of you leads us in prayer, let him complete the bowing (ruku') and prostration (sujud), for behind him are the young, the old, the sick, the traveller and the one with a need." When (the next) prayer time came, Sayyiduna Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) went forward and completed the bowing and prostration but kept the prayer short. When he finished, he said: "This is how we used to pray behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدُوسِ بْنِ كَامِلٍ السَّرَّاجُ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ مَنْدَهْ الْأََصْبَهَانِيُّ قَالَا: ثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الْبَزَّارُ، ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، ثَنَا سَعْدٌ الطَّائِيُّ، ثَنَا مُحِلُّ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَدِيُّ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَشَكَا الْحَاجَةَ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ الْآخَرُ فَشَكَا قَطْعَ السَّبِيلِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَا عَدِيُّ، هَلْ رَأَيْتَ الْحِيرَةَ؟» قُلْتُ: لَا، وَقَدْ أُنْبِئْتُ عَنْهَا، قَالَ: «إنْ طَالَتْ بِكَ الْحَيَاةُ لَتَريَنَّ الظَّعَائِنَ مُرْتَحِلِينَ مِنَ الْحِيرَةِ حَتَّى يَطُوفُونَ بِالْكَعْبَةِ آمِنِينَ وَلَا يَخَافُونَ إلَّا اللهَ، وَلَئِنْ طَالَ بِكَ حَيَاةٌ لَتُفْتَحَنَّ كُنُوزُ كِسْرَى» قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، كِسْرَى بْنُ هُرْمُزَ قَالَ: «كِسْرَى بْنُ هُرْمُزَ، وَلَئِنْ طَالَ بِكَ حَيَاةٌ لَتَرَيَنَّ الرَّجُلَ يُخْرِجُ بِمِلْءِ كَفِّهِ دِرْهَمًا أَوْ فِضَّةً يَلْتَمِسُ مَنْ يَقْبَلُهُ» ثُمَّ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ»
Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man came and complained of poverty, then another came and complained of highway robbery. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Adi, have you seen al-Hirah?" I said: "No, but I have been told about it." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you live long, you will surely see women in howdahs (travelling alone) journeying from al-Hirah until they circumambulate the Ka'bah in safety, fearing no one but Allah. And if you live long, the treasures of Kisra will surely be conquered." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, Kisra bin Hurmuz?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, Kisra bin Hurmuz. And if you live long, you will surely see a man going out with a handful of dirhams or silver, looking for someone who will accept it." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Protect yourselves from the Fire, even if only with a piece of a date, and if you cannot find that, then with a good word."
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَمَّادِ بْنِ فَضَالَةَ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ، ثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، ثَنَا سَعْدَانُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، ثَنَا أَبُو مُجَاهِدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحِلُّ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَدِيَّ بْنَ حَاتِمٍ يَقُولُ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَاءَ رَجُلَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا يَشْكُو الْعَيْلَةَ وَالْآخَرُ يَشْكُو قَطْعَ السَّبِيلِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَمَّا قَطْعُ السَّبِيلِ فَلَا يَأْتِي عَلَيْكَ إلَّا قَلِيلٌ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ الْعِيرُ مِنَ الْحِيرَةِ إِلَى مَكَّةَ عِيرٌ حَفِيرٌ، وَأَمَّا الْعَيْلَةُ فَإِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَا تَقُومُ حَتَّى يَطُوفَ أَحَدُكُمْ بِصَدَقَتِهِ وَلَا يَجِدُ مَنْ يَقْبَلُهُ، ثُمَّ لَيَقِفَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَيْسَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ حِجَابُ يُتَرْجِمُ فَلَيَقُولَنَّ: «أَلَمْ أُؤْتِكَ مَالًا؟» فَيَقُولُ: بَلَى فَيَقُولُ: «أَلَمْ أُرْسِلْ إِلَيْكَ رَسُولًا؟» فَيَقُولُ: بَلَى، ثُمَّ يَنْظُرُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَلَا يَرَى إلَّا النَّارَ، ثُمَّ يَنْظُرُ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ فَلَا يَرَى إِلَّا النَّارَ، فَلْيَتَّقِ أَحَدُكُمُ النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ "
Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when two men came; one of them was complaining of poverty and the other was complaining of highway robbery. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As for highway robbery, only a short time will pass over you before a caravan sets out from al-Hirah to Makkah (without any guard). And as for poverty, the Hour will not be established until one of you goes about with his charity and finds no one to accept it. Then each one of you will stand before Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, with no veil and no interpreter between him and Him. Allah will say: 'Did I not give you wealth?' He will say: 'Yes, indeed.' Allah will say: 'Did I not send a Messenger to you?' He will say: 'Yes, indeed.' Then he will look to his right and see nothing but the Fire, then he will look to his left and see nothing but the Fire. So let each one of you protect himself from the Fire, even if only with a piece of a date, and if he cannot find that, then with a good word."
حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، ثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدَانَ مَسْلَمَةُ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ الطَّائِيِّ، عَنْ مُحِلِّ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَيْسَ مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إلَّا سَيُكَلِّمُهُ رَبُّهُ لَيْسَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ تَرْجُمَانٌ يُتَرْجِمُ لَهُ وَلَا حَاجِبٌ يَحْجُبُهُ فَيَقُولُ: «أَلَمْ أُرْسِلْ إِلَيْكَ رَسُولًا؟» فَيَقُولُ: بَلَى، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: «أَلَمْ أُؤْتِكَ مَالًا وَأُفْضِلُ عَلَيْكَ؟» فَيَقُولُ: بَلَى، «فَلْيَتَّقِ أَحَدُكُمُ النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "His Lord will speak to every one of you, with no interpreter between him and Him to interpret, and no gatekeeper to screen him. Allah will say: 'Did I not send a Messenger to you?' He will say: 'Yes, indeed.' Then He will say: 'Did I not give you wealth and show you favour?' He will say: 'Yes, indeed.' So let each one of you protect himself from the Fire, even if only with a piece of a date."
