حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شُعَيْبٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَابْلُتِّيُّ، ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، ثنا الْمُطَّلِبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ: «كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا، يُسْنِدُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ»
Al-Muttalib bin Abdullah bin Hantab narrated that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to perform ablution washing each limb three times, and he attributed this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شُعَيْبٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَابْلُتِّيُّ، ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنِ الْوِتْرِ، فَقَالَ: «أَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ» ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: إِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يَقُولَ النَّاسُ إِنَّهَا بُتَيْرَاءُ قَالَ: «سُنَّةُ اللهِ وَسُنَّةُ رَسُولِهِ، يُرِيدُ هَذِهِ سُنَّةُ اللهِ وَسُنَّةُ رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ»
Al-Muttalib bin Abdullah bin Hantab narrated: A man asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the witr prayer, and he said: "Pray witr with one rak'ah." The man said: I fear that people will say it is "butayra'" (cut off, incomplete). He said: "It is the Sunnah of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger," meaning that this is the Sunnah of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْبَكْرِيُّ، ثنا كَثِيرُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: «مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا مِنَ النَّاسِ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْوَدَ مِنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ»
Al-Muttalib bin Abdullah bin Hantab narrated that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "After the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I have not seen anyone among the people more fit for leadership than Mu'awiyah."
