Jubayr bin Abi Sulayman bin Jubayr bin Mut'im (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that he was sitting with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) when a young man passed by him wearing a San'ani cloak, walking while dragging it. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "O young man, come here." The young man said: "What do you need, O Abu Abd al-Rahman?" He said: "Woe to you! Would you like Allah to look at you (with mercy) on the Day of Resurrection?" He said: "Subhan Allah! What could stop me from wanting that?" He said: "Then (know that) I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Allah will not look (with mercy) on the Day of Resurrection at a servant who drags his lower garment out of arrogance.'" The narrator said: After that, that young man was never seen, until he died, except with his garment raised up.

Jubayr bin Abi Sulayman bin Jubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that he was sitting with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he (Ibn Umar) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say this in his supplication in the morning and the evening, and he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) did not abandon it until he departed this world and passed away: "O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly life, my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and turn my fears into security. O Allah, protect me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right, from my left and from above me, and I seek refuge in You from being swallowed up from beneath me." Jubayr said: "And that (being swallowed up from beneath) means sinking into the earth." I do not know whether this was the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) or Jubayr's own saying.
