حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الضَّبِّيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ، أنا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ بَذِيمَةَ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ حَبْتَرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْجَرِّ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أَوَّلَ مَنْ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ النَّبِيذِ عَبْدُ الْقَيْسِ أَتَوْهُ، فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ , إِنَّا بِأَرْضٍ رِيفٍ، وَإِنَّا نُصِيبُ مِنَ الْبَقْلِ فَأَمَرَنَا بِشَرَابٍ، فَقَالَ: «انْتَبِذُوا فِي الْأَسْقِيَةِ، وَلَا تَنْبِذُوا فِي الْجَرِّ، وَلَا الدُّبَّاءِ وَلَا الْمُزَفَّتِ وَلَا النَّقِيرِ، فَإِنِّي نُهِيتُ عَنِ الْخَمْرِ، وَالْمَيْسِرِ، وَالْكُوبَةِ - وَهِيَ الطَّبْلُ - وَكُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ» قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ , فَإِذَا اشْتَدَّ قَالَ: «صُبُّوا عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ» قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهُ , فَإِذَا اشْتَدَّ قَالَ: «صُبُّوا عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ» قَالَ: فِي الثَّالِثَةِ أَوْ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ: «فَإِذَا اشْتَدَّ فَأَهْرِقُوهُ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked about (making nabidh in) earthenware jars, and he said: The first tribe to ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about nabidh was Abd al-Qays. They came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, we live in a green, fertile land, and we get (an abundance of) vegetables, so instruct us about a drink. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Make nabidh in waterskins; do not make it in earthenware jars, nor in gourd vessels, nor in pitch-coated vessels, nor in vessels hollowed from palm trunks, for I have been forbidden wine, gambling and the kubah (that is, the drum), and every intoxicant is unlawful." The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah, then when it becomes strong (what should we do)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pour water on it." They said: O Messenger of Allah, then when it becomes strong (again)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pour water on it." The narrator said: The third or fourth time, he said: "When it becomes strong, pour it away."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو بِلَالٍ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ، ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ بَذِيمَةَ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ حَبْتَرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ إِسْرَائِيلَ
A hadith similar to the hadith narrated by Isra'il is also narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ أَعْيَنَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ بَذِيمَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ حَبْتَرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every intoxicant is unlawful."
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، قَالَ: قَرَأْنَا عَلَى مَعْقِلِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ حَبْتَرٍ الرَّبَعِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «ثَمَنُ الْخَمْرِ حَرَامٌ، وَمَهْرُ الْبَغِيِّ حَرَامٌ، وَثَمَنُ الْكَلْبِ حَرَامٌ، وَالْكُوبَةُ حَرَامٌ، وَإِنْ أَتَاكَ صَاحِبُ الْكَلْبِ يَلْتَمِسُ ثَمَنَهُ، فَامْلَأْ يَدَيْهِ تُرَابًا، وَالْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ وَكُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The price of wine is unlawful, the earnings of a prostitute are unlawful, the price of a dog is unlawful, and the kubah (drum) is unlawful. And if the owner of the dog comes to you seeking its price, fill both his hands with dust. And wine, gambling and every intoxicant are unlawful."
