حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَهُمْ يُسْلِفُونَ فِي الثَّمَرِ السَّنَةَ وَالسَّنَتَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَ فَقَالَ: «مَنْ أَسْلَفَ فَلْيُسْلِفْ فِي كَيْلٍ مَعْلُومٍ وَوَزْنٍ مَعْلُومٍ إِلَى أَجْلٍ مَعْلُومٍ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Madinah while the people were paying in advance (salaf) for fruit for one year, two years and three years. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever makes an advance payment (salaf), let him do so for a known measure, a known weight and a known term."
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَهُمْ يُسْلِفُونَ فِي الثَّمَرِ السَّنَتَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَ فَقَالَ: «مَنْ أَسْلَفَ فَلْيُسْلِفْ فِي كَيْلٍ مَعْلُومٍ وَوَزْنٍ مَعْلُومٍ إِلَى أَجْلٍ مَعْلُومٍ» .

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وُهَيْبٍ الْغَزِّيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ، ثنا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ
A similar hadith is also narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both).
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الْعَيْشِيُّ، ح، وَحَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الضَّبِّيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الزَّنْجِيُّ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: ذُكِرَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ يَهُودَ يَصُومُونَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنْ عِشْنا خالَفْنَاهُمْ وَصُمْنَا الْيَوْمَ التَّاسِعَ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that it was mentioned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Jews fast on the day of Ashura. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If we live, we will differ from them and fast on the ninth (as well)."
