Sayyiduna Talq bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: We set out as a delegation of six men to the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), five of us from Banu Hanifah and the sixth a man from Banu Dubay'ah bin Rabi'ah, until we reached the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). We came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and prayed with him (peace and blessings be upon him), and we told him (peace and blessings be upon him) that in our land we had a church (a place of worship), and we asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) for some of the water left over from his (peace and blessings be upon him) ablution. He (peace and blessings be upon him) called for water, performed ablution with it and rinsed his mouth, then poured it out for us into a vessel and said: "Take this water, and when you reach your town, demolish your church, then sprinkle this water over that place, and make that place a mosque." We said: O Prophet of Allah, the town is far and the water will dry up. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then add water to it, for it will only increase it in purity (blessing)." So we set out with that water until we reached our town, and we did what we had been commanded. That day our monk was a man from the tribe of Tayyi'. We gave the call to prayer, whereupon that monk said: This is a call of truth. Then he fled, and we never saw him again.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Talq bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: O Prophet of Allah, what do you say about praying in a single garment? So the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) undid his waist-wrapper, folded his upper sheet over it, then wrapped himself in both of them and led us in prayer. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) had completed his prayer, he said: "Does every one of you have two garments?"
