Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda', Sayyiduna Abu Umamah, Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' and Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with them) narrate that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "Who are those firmly grounded (rasikh) in knowledge?" He said: "He whose oath is true, whose tongue is truthful, and whose stomach and private parts are chaste: that is the one firmly grounded."

Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda', Sayyiduna Abu Umamah, Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' and Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with them) narrate: One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us while we were disputing about some matter of the religion. He (peace and blessings be upon him) became intensely angry, as he had never been angry before, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) rebuked us sternly and said: "Stop, O Ummah of Muhammad! Those before you were destroyed only because of this; they took up disputing, though there is very little good in it."
"Give up disputing, for the believer does not dispute."
"Give up disputing, for the loss of the disputer keeps growing."
"Give up disputing, for it is sin enough for you that you keep on disputing."
"Give up disputing, for I will not intercede for the disputer on the Day of Resurrection."
"Give up disputing, for I guarantee three houses in Paradise, in its gardens, in its middle and in its highest part, for the one who gives up disputing while he is in the right."
"Give up disputing, for the first thing my Lord forbade me after the worship of idols was disputing and drinking wine."
"Give up disputing, for Satan has despaired of being worshipped, but he is content with sowing discord among you, and that is disputing."
"Give up disputing, for the Children of Israel split into seventy-one (71) sects, and the Christians into seventy-two (72) sects, all of them upon misguidance except the greatest body (al-sawad al-a'zam)." The Companions said: "O Messenger of Allah, who are the greatest body?" He said: "Whoever is on the way that I and my Companions are on, who does not dispute about the religion of Allah, and who does not declare anyone of the people of Tawhid a disbeliever because of a sin that (Allah) has forgiven."
Then he said: "Islam began as something strange, and it will soon return to being strange." The Companions said: "O Messenger of Allah, who are the strangers?" He said: "Those who set things right when people have become corrupt, who do not dispute about the religion of Allah, and who do not declare anyone of the people of Tawhid a disbeliever because of a sin."

Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda', Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa', Sayyiduna Abu Umamah and Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with them) narrate: We were in a gathering in which some Jews were also present, and we were discussing predestination (qadar). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us in a state of anger; signs of displeasure and sternness were on his (peace and blessings be upon him) blessed face, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) rebuked us sternly, then said: "Enough, enough! O Ummah of Muhammad, fear Allah! They are two deep, dark valleys; do not kindle the blaze of the Fire upon yourselves." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the Jews to stand up. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) spread out his right hand and pointed with a finger of his left hand,
then said: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is a book from Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, in which are recorded the names of the people of Paradise, their forefathers, their children and their clans. Your Lord has finished (decreeing); your Lord has finished." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) spread out his left hand, then pointed to it with a finger of his right hand,
then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is a book from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, in which are recorded the names of the people of Hell, and the names of their forefathers, their children and their clans. Your Lord has finished; your Lord has finished; your Lord has finished."
