Khalid bin al-Zibriqan said: That is, the one who mocks the poor: he says to a poor man, "Come, I will give you something," then when the man comes to him he says, "I have nothing with me." And he says to a blind man, "Beware of the well, beware of the animal," when there is nothing in front of him. And when a man asks about a people's house, he directs him to somewhere else.

Sulayman bin Habib al-Muharibi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I went out on a military expedition. When I passed through Hims, I went to the market to buy the things a traveller cannot do without. When I looked towards the door of the mosque, it occurred to me: if only I went in and prayed two rak'ahs. When I went in, I saw Thabit bin Ma'bad, Ibn Abi Zakariyya and Makhul with a group of people from Damascus. When I saw them, I went to them and sat with them. They talked about some things, then they said: We want to go to Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him). So they got up and I got up with them, and we went in to him. We found an old man who had become frail and aged, yet his intellect and speech were far better than his outward appearance. The first thing he told us was: This gathering of yours is part of what Allah has conveyed; Allah's proof has been established against you. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) conveyed what he (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent with, and his (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions conveyed what they heard, so you too convey what you hear: "There are three kinds of people, each of whom is under the guarantee of Allah: a man who goes out in the path of Allah; he is under the guarantee of Allah until He admits him to Paradise, or he returns with whatever reward or spoils he has gained. And a man who enters his house with a greeting of peace." Then he said: "In Hell there is a bridge with seven arches, and on the middle one of them is the reckoning and judgement. A servant will be brought, and when he reaches the middle arch, it will be said to him: Whose debt do you owe?" And he recited this verse: "And they will not be able to hide any statement from Allah" [Surah al-Nisa: 42]. "He will say: My Lord, I owe such-and-such a person such-and-such. It will be said to him: Pay your debt. He will say: I have nothing; how can I pay? It will be said: Take from his good deeds. So his good deeds will continue to be taken until he has no good deed left. When his good deeds are exhausted, it will be said: His good deeds are exhausted. Now take from the sins of the one who is claiming from him and load them on him. It has also reached me that some men will come with good deeds like mountains, yet their good deeds will continue to be taken for those who claim against them until they too have no good deed left."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon banners of Banu al-Abbas will come out from the east. The first of them will be doomed and the last of them will be doomed. Do not help them; may Allah not help them. Whoever walks under any of their banners, Allah will admit him to Hell on the Day of Resurrection. Listen! They are the worst of Allah's creation, and their followers are the worst of Allah's creation. They claim that they are from me. Listen! I am free of them and they are free of me. Their sign is that they will grow their hair long and wear black. So do not sit with them in gatherings, do not buy and sell with them in the markets, do not show them the way, and do not give them water to drink. The inhabitants of the heaven are hurt by the sound of their takbir."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There will be four truces between you and the Romans. The fourth truce will come about at the hand of a man from the family of Heraclius, and it will last for seven years." At this a man from Abd al-Qays, who was called al-Mustawrid bin Khilan, said: O Messenger of Allah, who will be the leader of the people at that time? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man forty years of age, as though his face were a shining star. On his right cheek there will be a black mole. He will be wearing two thick cloaks, as though he were one of the men of the Children of Israel. He will rule for twenty years, bring out treasures and conquer the cities of idolatry."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the prayer is established, the gates of heaven are opened and supplication is answered. So whoever finishes the prayer and does not say: 'O Allah, protect me from Hell, admit me to Paradise, and marry me to the wide-eyed houris,' the Fire says: Woe to this man! Was he unable even to ask Allah for protection from Hell? And Paradise says: Woe to this man! Was he unable even to ask Allah for Paradise? And the wide-eyed houris say: Woe to this man! Was he unable even to ask Allah to marry him to us?"
