Sa'id bin Jumhan said: I asked Sayyiduna Safinah (may Allah be pleased with him) about his name, and he said: I will tell you about my name. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) named me Safinah (ship). I asked: Why did he (peace and blessings be upon him) name you Safinah? He said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) set out on a journey and we, his companions, were with him (peace and blessings be upon him). Their baggage became heavy for the Companions, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Spread out your cloak." I spread it out, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) placed everyone's baggage in it, then loaded it onto me and said: "Carry it, for you are nothing but a ship." Sayyiduna Safinah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Had I carried the load of one or two camels, or five wasqs (of goods), that day, it would not have been heavy for me.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Safinah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us and said: "There was no prophet before me who did not warn his Ummah about the Dajjal. He will be one-eyed; his left eye will be blind, and on his right eye there will be a thick fleshy growth (zafarah). Between his eyes will be written 'Kafir' (disbeliever). Two valleys will come out with him, one a Paradise and the other a Fire; his Paradise will (in reality) be Fire and his Fire will be Paradise. With him will be two angels resembling two of the prophets, one on his right and the other on his left, and this will be a trial for the people. He will say: 'Am I not your Lord? I give life and I cause death.' One of the two angels will say: 'You have lied,' and none of the people will hear him except his companion (the other angel). Then his companion will say to him: 'You have spoken the truth,' and the people will hear this and think that the Dajjal has spoken the truth, and that (too) will be a trial. Then he will travel until he comes to Madinah, but he will not be permitted to enter it, and he will say: 'This is the town of that man.' Then he will travel until he comes to Syria (al-Sham), and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will destroy him at the pass of Afiq ('Aqabat Afiq)."

Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: If we invite the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) too, he (peace and blessings be upon him) could eat with us. So they sent a man to him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) came and took hold of the two doorposts, and saw a (decorated) curtain on the two sides of the house, so he turned back. Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): Follow him and see why he turned back. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not fitting for me to enter a decorated house."
