Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when the funeral of a man from the Ansar was brought. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Does he owe any debt?" They said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah, two dinars. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You pray the funeral prayer for your companion." Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, both of them are my responsibility. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) led his funeral prayer. Then another funeral was brought, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Does he owe a debt?" They said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Did he leave any hoarded treasure?" They said: Two dinars. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two brandings." And he led his funeral prayer.

Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a funeral was brought, and the people said: You were such, and you were such. Then another funeral was brought, and the people said: You were such, and you were such. Thus they praised one with good and spoke ill of the other. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are Allah's witnesses on the earth, and the angels are Allah's witnesses in the heaven."
