Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We set out with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him); the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had appointed him as our commander. We fought Banu Fazarah. When we came near the water, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) gave us the order and we halted in the last part of the night. When we had prayed the Fajr prayer, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) gave us the order and we launched the raid, and at the water we killed whomever we killed. Sayyiduna Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I saw a group of people among whom were children and women. I was running after them, and I feared they would reach the mountain before me, so I shot an arrow which fell between them and the mountain, and they stopped. I brought them, driving them along, to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) until I reached the water. Among them was a woman of Banu Fazarah wearing an old leather cloak, and with her was a daughter of hers who was among the most beautiful girls of the Arabs. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) gave me her daughter (as an extra share from the spoils). I did not so much as remove her garment until we reached Madinah. Then I went out, having not removed her garment, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) met me and said: "O Salamah, give this woman to me." I said: O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, she has pleased me, and I have not even removed her garment. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fell silent and left me. Then the next day he met me in the market and said: "O Salamah, give this woman to me, may Allah bless your father." I said: O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I have not removed her garment, and she is yours. When the following day came, he met me in the market and said: "O Salamah, what became of the woman, may Allah bless your father?" The narrator says: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent her to the people of Makkah, who held some Muslim captives, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ransomed them in exchange for that woman and freed them.

Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We fought Hawazin with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). While we were sitting in the forenoon eating, a man came on a red camel. He pulled a rope from the rear girth of the camel's saddle and tied his camel with it, then came walking until he sat with us and began to eat. He looked at the people's faces and (saw) that their mounts were weak and most of them were on foot. When he had looked the people over, he went out running until he came to his camel, sat on it, and rode off urging it on; he was a scout of the disbelievers. A man of ours from the tribe of Aslam went after him on his ash-coloured she-camel, and I too went after him running on foot and caught up with him. I was by the hindquarters of the she-camel, then I went ahead until I seized the camel's nose-rein. Then I drew my sword and struck his head. Then I brought his she-camel, leading it, with his belongings loaded on it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) met me along with the people and asked: "Who killed the man?" They said: Ibn al-Akwa'. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "All his belongings are yours."
Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We reached Hudaybiyah with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then we set out returning to Madinah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Today the best of our horsemen is Abu Qatadah, and the best of our foot soldiers is Salamah." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me two shares: the share of a horseman and the share of a foot soldier, both together.
Through the same chain it is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever takes up arms against us is not one of us."

Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We set out for Khaybar, and Amir was reciting rajaz verses, saying: "By Allah, were it not for Allah we would not have been guided, nor would we have given charity nor prayed. We have never been free of need of Your bounty; so make our feet firm if we meet (the enemy), and send down tranquillity upon us." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who is this?" They said: It is Amir. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah forgive your sins, O Amir." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never prayed for forgiveness for any of his companions except that he was martyred. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, if only you had let us benefit from Amir longer. Then when we reached Khaybar, Marhab came out brandishing his sword; he was their king, and he was saying: "Khaybar knows that I am Marhab, fully armed, a seasoned champion, when wars flare up." Amir came out to face him and said: "Khaybar knows that I am Amir, fully armed, a daring champion." They exchanged a blow each. Marhab's sword struck Amir's shield, and Amir went to strike him, but his own sword turned back on him and cut a vein of the forearm, and his life was in it. At this some of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began to say: Amir's deeds have been lost; he killed himself. So I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) weeping and said: O Messenger of Allah, have Amir's deeds been lost? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who said this?" I said: Some of your companions. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever said that has spoken falsely; rather, he will have a double reward."
Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him). I went to him while his eyes were sore. He (peace and blessings be upon him) had said: "Today I will give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love." So I brought him, leading him by the hand while his eyes were sore, until I brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) applied his saliva to his eye and it was cured, then he gave him the banner. Then Marhab came out and said: "Khaybar knows that I am Marhab, fully armed, a seasoned champion, when wars flare up." Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I am the one whose mother named him Haydar (lion), like a lion of the forests, of fearsome appearance; I repay them in full, measure for measure with the sandarah." Then he struck him, split Marhab's head and killed him, and the conquest of Khaybar came at the hands of Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We fought against Hawazin with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and we suffered severe hardship, to the point that we resolved to slaughter some of our mounts. The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Gather some of your provisions." So the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that a leather mat be spread, and it was spread. The people brought dates and poured them onto it. I looked at it to estimate how much it was, and it was about the size of a resting goat. We all ate together until we were full, while we were fourteen hundred people, and then we filled our saddlebags from it. Then the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called for a little water from a vessel and ordered that it be poured into a bowl, and we began performing ablution with it until all of us had performed ablution.

Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a red tent when a man came riding a pregnant mare followed by her foal. He asked: Who are you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am the Messenger of Allah." He asked: When will the Hour come? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is of the unseen, and none knows the unseen except Allah." He asked: When will we get rain? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is of the unseen, and none knows the unseen except Allah." He asked: What is in my mare's belly? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is of the unseen, and none knows the unseen except Allah." He said: Give me your sword? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Here, take it." So he took it, drew it from its sheath and shook it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will never be able to do what you intended." Then he said: "This man came and thought: I will go to him and question him, then take my sword and kill him." So he put the sword back in its sheath.

Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: My uncle brought a man of the tribe of Ajlan, along with his horse, together with seventy of the polytheists, until he stopped with them before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let them go." The narrator says: So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) paid the blood money on their behalf, and on this Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: "And it is He who withheld their hands from you and your hands from them in the valley of Makkah, after He had given you victory over them" [Surah al-Fath: 24]
