Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We fought Hawazin with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). While we were sitting in the forenoon eating, a man came on a red camel. He pulled a rope from the rear girth of the camel's saddle and tied his camel with it, then came walking until he sat with us and began to eat. He looked at the people's faces and (saw) that their mounts were weak and most of them were on foot. When he had looked the people over, he went out running until he came to his camel, sat on it, and rode off urging it on; he was a scout of the disbelievers. A man of ours from the tribe of Aslam went after him on his ash-coloured she-camel, and I too went after him running on foot and caught up with him. I was by the hindquarters of the she-camel, then I went ahead until I seized the camel's nose-rein. Then I drew my sword and struck his head. Then I brought his she-camel, leading it, with his belongings loaded on it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) met me along with the people and asked: "Who killed the man?" They said: Ibn al-Akwa'. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "All his belongings are yours."
Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We reached Hudaybiyah with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then we set out returning to Madinah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Today the best of our horsemen is Abu Qatadah, and the best of our foot soldiers is Salamah." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me two shares: the share of a horseman and the share of a foot soldier, both together.
Through the same chain it is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever takes up arms against us is not one of us."
