Muwarriq al-Ijli (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) came to visit Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) in his illness, and he wept. They both asked: O Abu Abdullah! What makes you weep? He said: A covenant that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took from us, which none of us has kept. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let the provision of each of you be like the provision of a traveller." Muwarriq said: Then they looked around his house, and there was a pack-saddle and such and such.
