It is narrated with the same chain: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had seven dinars, which he had left with Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). When his illness came, he said: "Aishah, take this gold to Ali." Then he fainted, and Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was occupied by his condition. He (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this several times; each time he fainted, and Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was occupied by his condition. Finally she sent the dinars to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and he gave them in charity. On the night of Monday, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the threshold of death, so Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent her lamp to one of her co-wives and sent word: "Put some (ghee) into our lamp from your ghee skin, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has reached the threshold of death this evening."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the day of Khaybar: "Tomorrow I shall give this banner to a man at whose hands Allah Almighty will grant victory." The people kept talking among themselves about who would be given it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Where is Ali bin Abi Talib?" It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, he has a pain in his eye." The Companions sent for him and he was brought. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) applied his saliva to his eye and supplicated for him, and it was healed as if he had never had any pain. He (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him the banner. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall I fight them until they become like us?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Proceed calmly until you descend into their territory, then invite them to Islam and tell them what right of Allah will be obligatory upon them. If Allah guides someone through you, that is better for you than red camels."

The narrator relates concerning Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that people differed about the pulpit and its wood, so they asked Sayyiduna Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) about it. He said: "By Allah, I know what it is made of. I saw the day it was set in place, and I also saw the day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) first sat on it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent word to a certain woman - Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) named her - saying: 'Tell your carpenter slave to make me some pieces of wood on which I can sit and speak to the people.' She ordered her slave, and he made this pulpit from tamarisk wood of the forest, then brought it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); that is, the woman sent it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the order, and it was placed here. Then I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say the takbir while on it, then bow while on it, then he stepped down backwards and prostrated at the foot of the pulpit, then went back up. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) had finished, he turned to the people and said: 'O people, I did this only so that you may follow me and learn my prayer.'"

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have come to give myself to you." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at her, cast his gaze over her from top to bottom, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) lowered his head. When the woman saw that he (peace and blessings be upon him) had made no decision about her, she sat down. Then a man from among his Companions stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, if you have no need of her, then marry her to me." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you have anything?" He said: "No." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What do you know of the Qur'an?" He said: "Such-and-such surah." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have married her to you for what you have of the Qur'an."
