It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two supplications are not rejected - or he said: are not turned back - the supplication at the time of the call to prayer, and the supplication at the time of battle, when parts of it close in on one another." Musa bin Ya'qub said: Ruzayq bin Sa'id bin Abd al-Rahman also narrated this hadith to me, from Abu Hazim, from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: "And under the rain." Imam al-Tabarani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ruzayq has no musnad marfu' hadith except this one hadith, and another hadith that is munqati' (broken in its chain).

The people used to say: What is this? Then, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, the people would meet one another and console one another over the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the piece of wood that was kept in the maqsurah (enclosure) had been made for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in his (peace and blessings be upon him) old age, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lean on it when standing up. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, it was stolen. It was searched for and found in the mosque of Banu Amr bin Awf, and termites had already eaten into it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) went in to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) were crying. He asked: Why are they crying? Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Because of hunger. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Send someone to your father. So she sent someone. The messenger came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and in front of him (peace and blessings be upon him) were some leftover dates. He said: Your daughter says, O Messenger of Allah: If you have anything, send it to us, for Hasan and Husayn are crying. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed the messenger, and he sent the dates with him to them. He brought them to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) went in to her while the dates were in front of her. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Did he not find anything other than this? Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: No. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: There is not enough in this to quieten the two of them. So Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) went out and found a dinar in the market. He brought it to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), told her, and said: Here is a dinar. Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Take it to so-and-so the Jew and get flour for us from him. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) went out, came to the Jew and bought flour from him. When he had finished, the Jew said: Are you the son-in-law of this man who claims that he is the Messenger of Allah? He said: Yes. He said: Then take your dinar, and the flour is yours. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) went out until he brought it to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), told her, and said: Here is the dinar. Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Take it to so-and-so the butcher and get a dirham's worth of meat; we will send for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and he will eat with us. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) went and pawned the dinar for a dirham and brought the meat. Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) kneaded the dough, set up the griddle and baked bread, then sent someone to her father. He (peace and blessings be upon him) came to them and saw a large bowl with bread in it, meat boiling, and flour as well. Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah, let me tell you; if you consider it lawful for us, we will eat and you will eat - its story is such-and-such. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat, saying Bismillah." So they ate. While they were still there, a boy was searching for his dinar, adjuring people by Allah and by Islam. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an order, and he was called; he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, and he said: My family sent me with a dinar to buy something with it, and it fell from me in the market. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go to the butcher and say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) says: Send the dinar to me, and your dirham is owed by me." So he sent the dinar, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave it to the boy.
