Said bin Hurayth al-Makhzumi (may Allah be pleased with him), who lived in Kufah; he is Said bin Hurayth bin Amr bin Uthman bin Abdullah bin Amr bin Makhzum, and his mother was Atikah bint Hisham bin Hudhaym bin Sad bin Ribab bin Sahm

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْمَضَاءِ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ، ثنا خَلَفُ بْنُ تَمِيمٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُهَاجِرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ قَالَ: «كَانَ أَخِي سَعِيدٌ أَكْبَرَ مِنِّي»
Sayyiduna Amr bin Hurayth (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "My brother Sa'id was older than me."
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ بْنَ عُمَيْرٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ حُرَيْثٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَخِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ، وَكَانَ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَكَانَ نِعْمَ الْأَخُ، فَكُنْتُ أَهْوَى الْكُوفَةَ، فَاسْتَأْذَنْتُهُ فِي بَيْعِ الدَّارِ، فَأَذِنَ بِبَيْعِهَا، فَقَالَ لِي: يَا أَخِي، أَمْسِكْ يَدَكَ عَنْ ثَمَنِ هَذِهِ الدَّارِ، وَلَا تُنْقِصْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا، وَأَنْتَ تَسْتَطِيعُ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «مَنْ بَاعَ مِنْكُمْ دَارًا أَوْ عَقَارًا، فَمَا يُبَارَكُ لَهُ فِيهِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَجْعَلَهُ فِي مِثْلِهِ» ، فَصَدَّقْتُ أَخِي بِقَوْلِهِ، وَالْتَمَسْتُ الْبَرَكَةَ بِقَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَابْتَعْتُ بَعْضَ دَارِنَا هَذِهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ، فَأعْقَبَنَا اللهُ بِهَا مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ
Sayyiduna Amr bin Hurayth (may Allah be pleased with him) said: My brother Sa'id bin Hurayth (may Allah be pleased with him) told me (he was a Companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he was an excellent brother): I wished to go to Kufah, so I asked his permission to sell the house, and he permitted its sale. Then my brother said to me: "O my brother, hold your hand back from the price of this house and do not reduce anything from it, as far as you are able, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever among you sells a house or property, he is not blessed in it unless he puts it into something like it.'" So I accepted my brother's word as true and, hoping for the blessing of the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I bought part of this house of ours with that money, and Allah gave us in exchange for it what was better.
