حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ بْنِ السَّرْحِ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَقَدْ أَوْصَانِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ بِالْجَارِ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيُوَرِّثُهُ»
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril (peace be upon him) kept urging me so much about the neighbour that I began to think he would even make him an heir."
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَا: ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ فَقَالَ: «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُطِيلُ الْقِرَاءَةَ وَيُحَرِّكُ شَفَتَيْهِ»
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the recitation in Zuhr and Asr, and he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lengthen the recitation and would move his lips."
