حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، ثنا حُسَيْنٌ الْأَشْقَرُ، ثنا قَيْسٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِبْعِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِفَاطِمَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا: «أَمَا عَلِمْتِ أَنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ اطَّلَعَ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ فَاخْتَارَ مِنْهُمْ أَبَاكِ، فَبَعَثَهُ نَبِيًّا، ثُمَّ اطَّلَعَ الثَّانِيَةَ فَاخْتَارَ بَعْلَكِ فَأَوْحَى إِلَيَّ فَأَنْكَحْتُهُ وَاتَّخَذْتُهُ وَصِيًّا؟» .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Do you not know that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, looked upon the people of the earth and chose your father from among them and sent him as a Prophet; then He looked a second time and chose your husband, then He sent revelation to me, so I married you to him and took him as (my) executor (wasi)?"
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرِضَ، فَأَتَتْهُ فَاطِمَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا تَعُودُهُ وَهُوَ نَاقِهٌ مِنْ مَرَضِهِ، فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ مَا بِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْجَهْدِ. - فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِطُولِهِ -
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fell ill, and Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) came to visit him while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was recovering from his illness. Then, when she saw the state of weakness the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in. (The narrator then narrated the whole hadith in detail.)
