Jabir (may Allah have mercy on him) relates: I heard Salim bin Abdullah and Aban bin Hasan mention that a man was brought to Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) who had committed sodomy with a boy of Quraysh of well-known lineage. Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Woe to you! Where are the witnesses? Is he married? They said: He has married a woman, but the marriage has not yet been consummated. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him): Had he consummated it, stoning would have become due upon him; but since he has not consummated his marriage, give him the prescribed flogging. Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I bear witness that I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the same thing that Abu al-Hasan (Ali, may Allah be pleased with him) has stated. So Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the order, and he was given a hundred lashes.

Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "On the night I was taken on the Night Journey, I passed by Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and he said: O Jibril, who is this with you? He said: Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). So he greeted me with salam, welcomed me and said: Command your Ummah to plant much of the plants of Paradise, for its soil is pure and vast." I asked: What are the plants of Paradise? He said: "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (There is no power to avoid evil nor strength to do good except with the help of Allah)."
