حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْعُتْبِيُّ، ثنا حِبَّانُ بْنُ نَافِعِ بْنِ صَخْرِ بْنِ جُوَيْرِيَةَ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ الْقَدَّاحُ، عَنْ مَعْمَرِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ خُنَيْسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِنَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ: «إِنِّي قَارِئٌ عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتٍ مِنْ آخِرِ الزُّمَرِ، فَمَنْ بَكَى مِنْكُمْ وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ» فَقَرَأَهَا مِنْ عِنْدِ: {وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ} [الأنعام: ٩١] إِلَى آخِرِ السُّورَةِ، فَمِنَّا مَنْ بَكَى، وَمِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَبْكِ، فَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يَبْكُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَقَدْ جَهِدْنَا أَنْ نَبْكِيَ فَلَمْ نَبْكِ، فَقَالَ: «إِنِّي سَأَقْرَؤُها عَلَيْكُمْ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَبْكِ فَلْيَتَبَاكَ»
Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to some of his Companions: "I am going to recite to you some verses from the end of Surah al-Zumar; whoever among you weeps, Paradise becomes obligatory for him." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "And they did not esteem Allah with the esteem that is His due" [al-Zumar: 67] up to the end of the surah. Some of us wept and some did not. Those who did not weep said: O Messenger of Allah, we tried hard to weep but could not. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will recite this verse to you again, so whoever does not weep, let him make himself weep."
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ قَهْزَاذَ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي رِزْمَةَ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُهَاجِرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ جَرِيرًا مَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ: إِنَّمَا كَانَ هَذَا قَبْلَ الْمَائِدَةِ فَقَالَ جَرِيرٌ: إِنَّمَا أَسْلَمْتُ بَعْدَ الْمَائِدَةِ، «وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ»
Abd al-Malik bin Umayr said: I saw Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) wiping over the leather socks, and the people said: That was only before (the revelation of) Surah al-Ma'idah. Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I only accepted Islam after the revelation of Surah al-Ma'idah, and I have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over the leather socks.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ الضَّرِيرُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْكُوفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: «بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيَّ النُّصْحَ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ، وَإِنِّي لَنَاصِحٌ لَكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ»
Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on Islam, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) made it a condition upon me to have sincere goodwill towards every Muslim, and I am sincere in goodwill to you all."
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: «بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَالنُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ وَإِنِّي لَكُمْ نَاصِحٌ أَجْمَعِينَ»
Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on Islam and on sincere goodwill towards every Muslim, and I am sincere in goodwill to you all."
