Sayyiduna Usayd bin Zuhayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: On the day of Uhud, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) held back Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) (from taking part in the fighting), considering him too young. His paternal uncle Zuhayr (may Allah have mercy on him) said: O Messenger of Allah! He is an archer. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted him. Then an arrow struck him in the upper part of his chest, so his uncle brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: My nephew has been struck by an arrow. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you wish, we will take it out, and if you wish, leave it, for if he dies in this state, he will die a martyr."
