It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The land is the land of Allah and the servants are the servants of Allah, so wherever any of you finds good, let him fear Allah there and stay." And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "That one of you should take a rope, carry firewood on his back, then sell it and eat, is better for him than asking people, whether they give him or refuse him." And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recite this verse: "Allah bears witness that there is no god but He" [Al Imran: 18] up to "the Almighty, the All-Wise" [Al Imran: 18], and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And I too bear witness that there is no god but You; You are the Almighty, the All-Wise."

Sayyiduna al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Fajr prayer in the mosque of Madinah. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) finished, he said: "Which of you will come with me tonight to the delegation of the jinn?" The people fell silent and none of them said anything. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said this three times. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by me while walking and took my hand, so I began walking with him (peace and blessings be upon him) until all the mountains of Madinah were hidden from us and we had gone far out into an open plain. Suddenly some tall men appeared, as if they were spears, with their garments tucked up between their legs. When I saw them, a severe trembling overcame me, so much so that out of fear my feet could not hold me up. When we drew near them, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) drew a line on the ground with the big toe of his foot and said to me: "Sit in the middle of it." When I sat down, all the fear I had been feeling left me. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went between me and them and kept reciting the Qur'an in a loud voice until dawn broke. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came back and passed by me and said: "Come along." So I began walking with him (peace and blessings be upon him). We had not gone far when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Turn and look; do you see anyone where those people were?" I said: O Messenger of Allah! I see a great dark mass (a crowd). Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) lowered his head to the ground, picked up a bone and a piece of dung and threw them towards them, and said: "These are rightly guided ones from the delegation of a people, the delegation of Nasibin. They asked me for provision, so I assigned to them every bone and every piece of dung." Al-Zubayr said: "Therefore it is never permissible for anyone to clean himself after relieving himself (istinja) with a bone or dung."
