باب من روى عن ابن مسعود أنه لم يكن مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ليلة الجن
Chapter: Those who reported that Ibn Masud (may Allah be pleased with him) was not with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Night of the Jinn
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9944 — We were commanded to fast on Ashura only

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، ثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: «مَا أُمِرْنَا بِصَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ إِلَّا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ رَمَضَانُ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ رَمَضَانُ لَمْ نُؤْمَرْ بِهِ، وَلَمْ نُنْهَ عَنْهُ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "We were commanded to fast on Ashura only before (the fasting of) Ramadan was revealed; when Ramadan was revealed, we were neither commanded to fast it nor forbidden from it."
