Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9910 — Indeed, Mu'adh was an ummah, devoutly

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Indeed, Mu'adh was an ummah, devoutly obedient to Allah." At this Farwah said: "That is a mistake; (the verse is rather) 'Indeed, Ibrahim was an ummah, devoutly obedient to Allah' [Surah al-Nahl: 120]." He said: "We used to liken him (Mu'adh) to Ibrahim." He was asked about the ummah, and he said: "One who teaches good." And he was asked about the qanit, and he said: "One who is obedient to Allah and His Messenger."
