حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ الْحِمْيَرِيُّ، ثنا مَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا حَبِيبُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: كُنَّا إِذَا جَلَسْنَا نَقُولُ السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللهِ، السَّلَامُ عَلَى جِبْرِيلَ، السَّلَامُ عَلَى مِيكَائِيلَ، السَّلَامُ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ، فَعَلَّمَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَلَامًا إِذَا قُلْنَاهُ سَلَّمْنَا عَلَى كُلِّ مَلَكٍ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَعَبْدٍ صَالِحٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ: «التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When we sat (in the prayer), we would say: Peace be upon Allah, peace be upon Jibril, peace be upon Mika'il, peace be upon (all) the angels. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us words such that, when we said them, it was as if we had sent greetings of peace upon every angel in the heavens and every righteous servant on the earth: "All verbal, physical and monetary acts of worship are for Allah alone. O Prophet, peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger."
