حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُلَيْلٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ الْكِلَابِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَرَاسَةَ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، وَعَنْ مُحِلٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: كُنَّا نَقُولُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ: السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللهِ، السَّلَامُ عَلَى جِبْرِيلَ، حَتَّى عَلَّمَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ التَّشَهُّدَ: «التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We used to say in the prayer: Peace be upon Allah, peace be upon Jibril, until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us the tashahhud: "All verbal, physical and monetary acts of worship are for Allah alone. O Prophet, peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger."
