حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ، أنا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، وَأَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَيُّ الْأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ: «الصَّلَاةُ لِوَقْتِهَا، وَبِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ، وَالْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ» ، وَلَوِ اسْتَزَدْتُهُ لَزَادَنِي
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Which deed is the most excellent? He said: "Performing the prayer at its time, kindness to parents, and jihad in the path of Allah." And had I asked him for more, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would have told me more.
