Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9609 — he said: The waiting period ('iddah)

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ، قَالَا: ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، قَالَا: ثنا زُهَيْرٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، وَمَسْرُوقٍ، وَعُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: «عِدَّةُ الْمُطَلَّقَةِ مِنْ حِينِ تُطَلَّقُ وَالْمُتَوَفَّى عَنْهَا مِنْ حِينِ يُتَوَفَّى، وَمَنْ شَاءَ قَاسَمْتُهُ أَنَّ سُورَةَ الْقُصْرَى أُنْزِلَتْ بَعْدَ الْبَقَرَةِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "The waiting period ('iddah) of a divorced woman begins from the time she is divorced, and that of a widow from the time her husband dies. And whoever wishes, I am ready to swear an oath against him that the shorter Surah al-Nisa was revealed after Surah al-Baqarah."
