Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9589 — a man asked Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud

It is narrated from Abu Amr al-Shaybani (may Allah have mercy on him) that a man asked Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) about a man who had divorced his wife before consummation: may he marry that wife's daughter? He said: "Yes." So he married her, and she bore him children. Then he came to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him, and he said: "Separate the two of them." He said: But she has borne him children. He said: "Even if she has borne him ten, separate the two of them."
